Firstly is Laurent Schmitt, ENTSO-E’s Secretary General since January 2017. Before joining ENTSO-E, he was Global Smart Grid Strategy Leader at General Electric Grid Solutions. Schmitt is a member of strategic committees in CIGRE, IEC, EPRI and European Smart Cities Platform. He took part in expert task forces of the IEA and the European Commission.
Con Feeney is the other Keynote speaker. He is Network Performance and Safety Director for Northern Ireland Electricity Networks. In this role he primarily has responsibility for long term asset management, together with the near time operation and performance of the network. He also has responsibility for safety, health and environment.
DPSP 2018 will showcase the best in new research and practical innovations in power system protection and power system control. It will deliver a host of key industrial and academic insight through a specialist knowledge sharing platform, with global contributions and in-depth views on current trends and technical developments within the power industry.
Taking place on Monday 12 March, the renowned DPSP tutorial will follow the theme Protecting the Systems of the Future – Practical Aspects.
It will be a pragmatic and informative element of the DPSP programme, focusing on real-world challenges, solutions and experiences applicable both now and in the future within protection and automation, including renewable power generation, DC links and digital technology within transmission and distribution networks. It will take look at future solutions while demonstrating to attendees the importance of not forgetting lessons learned in the past.
